Carbon arrows come in numerous sizes and current prices can range from less then $50.00 per dozen to more then $600.00 per dozen for some specialized target arrows. To make the best arrow choice for your needs it helps to understand how carbon arrows are constructed and why arrows of the same materials can cost vastly different amounts.

All carbon arrows are constructed of carbon fibers laid in a matrix (glue) that binds them together. Not all carbon fibers are of equal quality. Better quality arrows are constructed of better quality carbon fibers (better quality meaning stronger and more consistant in size, for example some new carbon arrows from Easton are constructed of carbon fiber "nano tubes" which are much stronger then steel of the same size) How the fibers are laid in the matrix also effects arrow quality. Better quality arrows don't just have better quality carbon fiber, the fibers themselves are laid into the shaft in an consistant manner which yields a straighter shaft and a consistant arrow spine.

Many manufactureres grade their arrows by straightness, the shafts come off the same machines and are identical in every way except straightness. The actual straightness of the shafts are measured by a laser with the straightest ones carrying the premium price.
